April 24, 2026 The Department of Epidemiology, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, through its Graduate Curriculum Development Project in Translational Epidemiology, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, United States of America, and the Bangrak STIs Center, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, organized an International Academic Symposium on the topic of "Sexually Transmitted Infections in the Era of Antimicrobial Resistance: Current Realities, Point-of-Care Innovations, and Future Directions."
The symposium was held in a hybrid format, with the objective of creating an international platform for knowledge exchange on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a major public health challenge worldwide, as it relates to sexually transmitted infections.
The event was honored by the participation of national and international experts who shared perspectives on a range of important topics, including Current Situation and Challenges, Global Trends, Innovations and Management of STIs and AMR
This academic symposium was not only an opportunity to update the latest scientific knowledge, but also a driving force for academic and research collaboration between Thailand and the United States in pursuit of new directions for the sustainable management of sexually transmitted infections in the era of antimicrobial resistance.

The Master of Science Program in Infectious Diseases and Public Health Epidemiology, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, organized a study visit focused on infectious disease control and management at Suvarnabhumi Airport on March 13, 2026.The delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr. Fuangfa Utrarachkij, Program Director, along with faculty members and graduate students. This visit was conducted as an integral part of the course PHID 602: Public Health Infectious Disease Management. The primary objective was to integrate theoretical academic knowledge with practical, real-world experience in public health operations at a major international gateway.

On Friday, 30 January 2026, from 12:00–16:30 hrs., the Department of Epidemiology organized an academic seminar under the topic “Knowledge and Insights for Establishing Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy Programs in Translational Epidemiology.”The session featured Associate Professor Aronrag Cooper Meeyai, PhD, from the Centre for Tropical Medicine & Global Health, Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. The seminar aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences on developing internationally standardized graduate programs.In addition, Assistant Professor Dr. Nattnaree Aemyong, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, shared insights and provided recommendations regarding the process of establishing new academic programs.This academic seminar brought together faculty members of the Department of Epidemiology to brainstorm and collaboratively plan the development of the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs in Translational Epidemiology under the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University.
